6. One girl with aspergers syndrome

I want to share with you how I – as one girl with aspergers syndrome – experience the condition.
You might have read that aspies like to write lists. I know I do, so here comes a list of my female aspie traits. Some of the things on the list are official aspie traits, some are my experience of them and some are just things that I do that some people would call “special”..
In the bottom of this post, you’ll find a couple of tests – especially for girls/women! These can help you get closer to finding out if you, or your girl has aspergers.

5. Differences in boys and girls with aspergers

Boys and girls with asperger’s syndrome can be different. I’ve read all over the great Internet that there are, statistically, more boys with aspergers, than there are girls with aspergers. Generally, the male-to-female ratio is suspected to be 4:1 But it does seem like there are a lot of disagreements on this particular subject.

One opinion is that more boys are diagnosed with aspergers than girls, another is that there actually are more boys with aspergers than girls with aspergers. A not that common belief is that aspergers are a “males only”-syndrome. The problem is that there isn’t much research done on the aspergers subject, especially when it comes to girls. 

4. Always and never alone

This is really hard to explain.That fact makes it even more important for me to try to give an explanation for it. I think what I’m about to explain is an abnormal thing to feel. If I’m wrong, please correct me.

The fact is; I feel both that I always am, and never are, alone.

There is a lot of available information about the symptoms of Aspergers syndrome. It all kind of confuses me, cause there are so many symptoms and it might seem like half of the symptoms ain’t Aspergers-specific. A lot of typical geeks and socially awkward people got those symptoms, without having Aspergers syndrome. That fact aside, you might be here because you think you have aspergers syndrome yourself.
